In August 2015, I fielded an enquiry on our website from one, Noah Strycker from Oregon State, USA.

He was on the last leg of a twelve month attempt at observing more species around the World than any other individual; the significance being that the Wet Tropics was his first stop in Australia.

We birded for five days before he headed south and in that time we travelled widely to all available habitats locating one hundred and forty six “new” species in all.

The highlight amongst many was locating a Southern Cassowary with chicks near Kuranda on the range near Cairns.

Noah updated his web pages daily and concluded the last day of 2015 in North-Eastern India having located six thousand and forty-six species. The vast majority of birds he photographed for location records; he proved interesting and pleasant company during our travels.

What was his worst experience? Being searched by armed soldiers at night some place in the jungles of South America.
